As per a recent survey conducted by Abacus in the APAC region, travel agents admit that fares from LCCs matters more to them when compared to overall sales.
The results of the survey are interesting as it reveals some useful information on their overall sales pattern.
Almost 80% of the respondents admitted that flight search and tickets served as the chief function of their sites. Keeping in mind the fact that 75% of them were also offering accommodation and other Non-air products we can imagine the share of Flight part in their overall sales.
The ability to present competitive fares, including those of low cost carriers (LCCs), was seen as vital to the offering for most. But, while 42% of participants acknowledged LCCs as having a ‘major presence’ in their markets, 60% were unable to display and sell their inventory.
The agents who are now connected to the XMLs of the LCCs cited the problem with getting details of the ancillary services in the XML as one of the main problems in having fare transparency while quoting to their clients. Most of the LCCs offer the details on ancillary services through their website but do not offer the same through their XML feed which causes this confusion. However more and more LCCs are now starting to offer meals and baggage through their XML as they understand the need for creating revenues through this stream.
It would be interesting to mention here that Teknokraaft OTA has at present the capability to get details of the ancillary services of LCCs like Indigo, Air Arabia, Spice Jet etc where details of Meals, Baggage etc can be booked through the OTA.
In the Air part Teknokraaft OTA platform is at present integrated with GDS like Galileo, Amadeus, Sabre and Abacus. Consolidators like Mystifly, Yatra, TBO, Hermes and XML integration with Indigo, Spice Jet, Go Air, Air Arabia and Air India Express is also available and ready to use.
