According to a latest study about the booking habits and preferences of Indian travellers done by Skyscanner, 54% of Indians preferred flat discounts when it came to travel bookings. Where 37% chased for packaged deals and offers, 38% of travellers seek out flexibility of cancellation and rescheduling of their flights.
Convenience matters and it reflects in travel bookings as 45% of Indians prefer to make their booking on PCs, 27% of booking are done through apps via mobile and tablet devices which is on an increasing rate, followed by 13% bookings through mobile web as per the survey. This trend has been echoed in Skyscanner’s data as well, as the number of sessions recorded on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) were 56%, followed by desktops at 44%. A systematic updates on promotional offers have also stimulated the shift in how Indian travellers plan and book travel.
Survey has also revealed the changing trend in the payment method among Indian travellers with a credit card penetration at 21 million. As per the survey, credit cards (49%) and debit cards (32%) are the most preferred modes of payment by travellers. Where transaction through Internet banking are preferred by 31% of Indian travellers, 5% of respondents favour PayPal as a mode of payment. Meanwhile the survey reveals that 38% of Indian travellers refuse to rely on completing their transaction on their mobile device for security issues another 33% of respondents find it inconvenient.
