When the hotels are struggling in getting direct bookings, Travellers assume that they are getting a better deal if they book using an online travel agency.
A study with 1,000 travellers between the age group of 18 and 64 has shown that around 75% believe they get the best prices for a hotel stay through an online travel agency.
The study conducted by Triptease has also asked the 25% who do book direct why they did so.
Definitely, lower price was the major attraction and other factors included that it was easier to book (54%) and that the check-in process felt easier and more personal (16%).
Only 19% said they did so because they get loyalty points, whilst 13% believed they had a better chance of an upgrade on their room and 12% were sure about of getting a better treatment by the hotel staff.
And 30% believed that the biggest reward a guest might get if they booked direct will get a room upgrade, if available.
When a quarter required free wifi but more or less one in five opted for free breakfast and 17% preferred an early check-in or late check-out.
