Revival in multi-channel travel booking

Posted Date:  May 16, 2017

There is a striking upturn in the number of   travellers who use online & offline medium for searching and booking travel products according to a latest research.

A recent survey conducted among 2,500 US travellers show that the booking used by both methods have increased by 5% to 30% between 2014 and 2015.

Those who booked only online fell by a similar amount over the same period, with a nominal increase for usually offline.

The survey finds several reason for this sudden increase in multi-channel booking.

Even though shopping via mobile has increased the purchase is usually made through the click-to-call from user’s handset.

Likewise increase in the alternate accommodation options matches with the various properties requiring a booking to be made offline.

Survey forecasts the walk-in and central reservation channel to see a return to 2014 levels over the course of the next 12 months. In spite of market domination by the online travel agencies, it will encounter a slight drop towards 2020
