As per the ground-breaking figure revealed from a presentation made by PhoCusWright at the recent FITUR conference in Madrid, Spain, one in five of all travel bookings made online in Europe within a year will be by mobile devices and UK will be prominent among them as the most device-happy country.
Figures from the volume of bookings fulfilled on mobiles in online travel during 2013 is 20% across leisure and corporate travel which is almost double (up from 11%)
According to the statistics UK has been projected to attain 21% by 2015, 20% by Italy, France & Germany with their share of 18% and Spain & Scandinavia together assumed to achieve 17% of bookings through mobiles.
As per records in 2013 UK had its share of 13% and by the end of 2014 Europe as a whole has the potential to hit 15%
Forecast for 2015 include:

Total online bookings will touch an all-time high of 47%

Euro 126.7 billion spent online across leisure and unmanaged business travel (out of total Euro 270.2 billion)

Supplier-direct accounts for Euro 74.5 billion

Online travel agencies will have Euro 52.2 billion
Europe has emerged as the most digital savvy continent outdoing its US counterpart and rest of the league.
Online penetration in US will reach a high of 43% by 2015 followed by a figure of 31% in Asia-Pacific region through its online channels.
